The Viennese Heumarkt within the historical city centre has been a venue for music, sports and hospitality for more than one century. It comprises the Vienna Konzerthaus, one of the most important institutions of international music life, the famous Vienna Ice-Skating Rink and the first hotel of the renowned international chain InterContinental in Vienna.
The project “Heumarkt Neu” is a 77,500 m² redevelopment and new build mixed-use building complex combining these specific features meeting today’s requirements and public interests. The development comprises three main buildings and large public areas. Central is a large public, multifunctional square for year-round use, which serves the Vienna Ice Skating Association in winter and continues in a city terrace on the conference floor. Gastronomy and shopping on the ground floor serves the all year round publicly accessible and multifunctional open-air space for locals and tourists.
The new luxury 14-storey hotel accomodates 472 rooms plus an attached 7,000 m² conference centre for 1800 guests with public city terrace. The adjacent 19- storey tower houses office spaces, multifunctional events spaces and 50 serviced apartments. The third building is a 5-storey budget hotel with 136 rooms including roof terrace with pool and administration rooms of the operating company.
Sports facilities play a major role within the development featuring 10,000 m² of new open air and indoor ice-rink and ice hockey rink, also indoor sports facilities for schools and sport clubs including swimming pool. Furthermore, there is underground parking for 275 cars.
