Die denkmalgeschützte, ehemalige k.u.k. Hauptpostzentrale in der Wiener Innenstadt besteht aus fünf Bauteilen unterschiedlichen Alters, die zwischen 1849 und 1854 nach Plänen des Hofarchitekten Paul Sprenger umgebaut und mit einer einheitlichen Fassade versehen wurden. Derzeit wird dieses prestigeträchtige und hochkomplexe Gebäudeensemble von hochform. Architekten aufwendig revitalisiert und für neue Nutzungen umgewandelt.
The heritage-protected, former k.u.k. Hauptpostzentrale in Vienna's city center consists of five buildings of different ages. Between 1849 and 1854 they were modified according to the plans of court architect Paul Sprenger and given a unified façade. This prestigious and highly complex ensemble of buildings is currently being extensively revitalized by hochform. Architekten and converted for new uses.
Die Bausubstanz wurde im Zeitraum zwischen dem 16. und dem späten 19. Jh. errichtet sowie erweitert und ist von einer kontinuierlichen Transformation und dem Versuch der Homogenisierung gekennzeichnet. Neben Wohnflächen werden zukünftig ein Hotel, Co-Working, Gastronomie sowie Freizeit und Fitnessflächen im ehemaligen Büro- und Verwaltungsgebäude unterkommen, wie auch eine Fernkältenzentrale im Untergeschoss.
Insgesamt entstehen 38 Wohnungen, im Bereich des Hotels werden 129 apartmentähnliche Einheiten umgesetzt. Die Erdgeschosszone öffnet sich galerieartig zum Stadtraum und der größte der drei Innenhöfe wird für die Allgemeinheit zugänglich gemacht und kann somit als halböffentliche Passage von der Postgasse zur Dominikanerbastei genützt werden. Alle Innenhöfe werden entsprechend Ihrer Nutzung ausgestaltet, im Wohnbereich beruhigt und begrünt. Im zentralen Dominikanertrakt sind Hotel, Restaurant und Büroflächen angesiedelt. Die innenliegenden historischen Konstruktionen werden aufwendig saniert und bewusst in Szene gesetzt. Die Spa-, Fitness- sowie Nebenräume des Hotels sind unter anderem in der zweigeschossigen Unterkellerung des Auwinkelhofs untergebracht. Unter dem Dominkanerhof wird eine neue fünfgeschossige Tiefgarage eingerichtet.
Das Projekt „alte Post“ ist im Stadium der finalen Bauausführung und wird seit nunmehr acht Jahren von hochform. Architekten im Rahmen der Projektentwicklung, Objekt- und weiterführenden baubegleitenden Planung bearbeitet.
The existing buildings were constructed and extended between the 16th and late 19th centuries, and are characterized by continuous transformation and attempts of homogenization. In addition to residential space, the former office and administration building will in future accommodate a hotel, co-working, restaurants, leisure and fitness areas, as well as a cooling center in the basement.
A total of 38 apartments will be created, plus 129 apartment-like units in the hotel area. The ground floor zone opens up to the urban space like a gallery, the largest of the three inner courtyards will be opened up to the public. It can thus be used as a semi-public passage from Postgasse to Dominikanerbastei. All inner courtyards will be adapted to their use, and the residential areas will be calmed and greened. The hotel, restaurant, and office space are located in the central Dominikanertrakt. The historical structures inside have been extensively renovated and deliberately showcased. The hotel's spa, fitness and adjoining rooms are primarily located in the two-storey basement of the Auwinkelhof. A new five-storey underground car park will be built beneath the Dominkanerhof.
The project is currently in the final construction stage and has been overseen by hochform. Architekten in the context of project development, property planning and ongoing construction planning.
